Zulu beading is something that people use for income and as a way to show they care toward their loved ones. People could not survive without Zulu beading for the sole fact that they use it for an income. Many women in Africa use Zulu beading as a way to make money, they make bracelets then sell them to tourists. Since this is their own income, they need it to pay for food, shelter, and clothing. If they did not use beading as a source of income, they could live without it. I know this because people living in Africa do not have it easy, so having a way to make income is surely a blessing and much needed. Also, beading is a fun way to express feelings and bring people together and be social, so without it the community may not be as flourished or active.
What type of culture does it represent?
Zulu beading represents the non-material culture of both expressive and societal. It represents expressive because African women have social gatherings while c reading their beadwork and the beading is passed down through generations and to other families as well, so people are able to connect and be social through the beading. Also, because the beading is sold, it allows people of the Zulu tribe to be social to tourists and other Africans they may sell it to. It represents societal because Zulu beading is desired in the Zulu tribe community. They use it as a social means and as a way of income. Also, it is widely practiced throughout the Zulu tribe in Africa, and surely many other parts of Africa as well.
